The children were made to apologise to her, but she kept the name
Stillwart. She stood in front of the class as they made their apologies, heads
bowed. They had been told by their parents what they had done, and how bad it
was. They were truly ashamed, but Stillwart had gained strength beyond any
fairy.
“My name is Stillwart, and I’m a pixie,” she told them. “This is a pixie-fairy school. Pixie’s are fearless. I’m friends with an owl, Mr Sooty and I eat bugs because they taste good.”
I’m not sure she ever really made friends with any of the children, she was too different, and too strange. But over time, I think there was an acceptance of her, a curiosity, and at times… respect.
